This article delves into the past. I try pretty hard to avoid talking about Techrights, but this one is about Techrights.
Claim: That I’ve been harassing Techrights for over 10 years.
Here is what really happened. He has taken the facts and twisted them using cognitive reframing to make them sound nefarious.
Cognitive reframing is a psychological technique that consists of identifying and then changing the way situations, experiences, events, ideas and emotions are viewed.
I was a member of his IRC channel years ago. Sometime in 2011, I was discussing CCTV with everybody on IRC.
Roy’s good friend Tim (the co-host of Techbytes) decided to pick a fight with me. Tim’s first argument was that the people voted for CCTV.
I told him that I wouldn’t take the word of the son of a freemason on matters of politics. That’s why Roy says I was “attacking the family” of his co-host.
Tim would then go on to accuse me of not having an opinion because my opinions change based on new information. Then he banned me.
Shortly after that, Roy claimed that I wanted to overthrow the government and that I was saying dangerous things. I was putting everyone at risk of police knocking on their doors.
Years later he would still continue to brag about having a record of never banning anyone but Matthew Garrett. (Hint: Run TechrightsAuditor and do a manual search for ’never banned anyone')
I also returned to IRC years later, so there is a huge gap where I had nothing to do with Techrights.
Using his technique of cognitive reframing I could claim that he was “defaming me for over 10 years.” And if you look at the dates, he fired the first shots every time.
Can he even stop himself from defamaing people? While he was doxxing Ryan, Roy talks about him behind his back like it is nothing on August 26, 2024:
The point of this article is to illustrate that Roy’s attempts to change the past backfired because of his own IRC logs.
And it is in those same log files that you can see him stabbing his most loyal contributor in the back. I’m not defending Ryan, but this is what Roy does.
I imagine most of the people who believe his lies won’t care what I have to say anyway because I’m trans.
When you are trans, fascists and bigots always assume the worst, they believe the bullies, they take the wrong side of history.
And when they label you a criminal without a trial, a lynch mob forms. Nobody cares if it is true.
They are out for blood.
